A VJ (video jockey) does for images what a DJ does for music: mixing visuals live, responding to the energy of the room and the rhythm of the music. At Dansons, it’s the same person behind the decks and the visuals — one artist signs the entire evening.
Alexandre Quessy holds a master’s degree in multimedia and brings over twenty years of interactive digital production experience. He is the only DJ-VJ in the Eastern Townships who both creates and mixes visuals live — since 2016, his projections have transformed spaces on three continents.

Our VJ packages follow the same structure as our DJ grid: each tier scales with the complexity and duration of the performance.

VJ Events and Venues in the Eastern Townships
DANSONS covers the entire Eastern Townships region: Bromont, Granby, Cowansville, Sutton, Lac-Brome, Magog, Orford, Dunham, and surrounding areas. We perform in reception halls, barns, vineyards, private estates, and outdoor events. Travel fees apply based on distance: $50 per hour of driving and $0.50 per kilometre.
For VJ events outside the Eastern Townships (Montréal, Québec City, Ottawa-Gatineau), contact us for a quote that includes travel.

What exactly is a VJ? A VJ (video jockey) mixes visuals live, just as a DJ mixes music. The visuals respond to the beat, the room’s energy, and key moments of the evening — this is not a pre-recorded video on a loop. A VJ can also mix video clips with synchronized music, creating a cohesive audiovisual experience.
What’s the difference from a simple background screen? A background screen plays a fixed video. A VJ creates in real time: visuals shift with the music, the moment of the evening, and the energy of the dance floor. It’s alive.
Can I include my own photos in the visuals? Yes — for packages L and XL, we integrate your engagement photos, colours, and theme into custom scenes. Send them to us a few weeks before your event.
What projection size is possible? From a few square metres (standard floor-standing screen) to over 120 m² of building facade for architectural mapping. We visit the venue before each event to recommend the best configuration.
What projector brightness do you use? Between 5,000 and 8,000 lumens depending on the setup. For XL packages with large-surface mapping, we sub-contract high-power projectors (12,000+ lumens) through our local partners.
Does a VJ replace my DJ or add to them? Both are possible. The S package (VJ Add-on) pairs with your existing DJ. Packages L and above include Dansons DJ service integrated — music and visuals by the same artist.

How far in advance should we book? For weddings: 3 months minimum, 6 months recommended during peak season (May–October). For festivals and corporate events: 4 weeks minimum.
